Message from the chairs

It’s time to Party with Purpose at the Art Gallery of Alberta! Now in its 19th year, Art on the Block is our largest fundraising event and is still one of this city’s most unique, sought-after and talked-about social events.

The AGA is embarking on exciting and ambitious changes in the coming years. Your ticket and contributions throughout the night are a huge part of supporting the AGA’s exhibitions, education and programming for all ages, giving Edmontonians, Albertans and visitors from around the world an unforgettable arts experience.

This year’s Art on the Block silent auction will surely distract you from the delicious canapé creations by Zinc Head Chef Dave Omar. You’ll be tempted by more than 100 items, including more than 85 works of art by recognized Canadian artists, exclusive art-inspired experiences and items donated by local artisans and businesses that you won’t find anywhere else, and a top-secret in-auction installation by local gaming industry giant Bioware.

Every year we have an extraordinary group of supporters including artists, galleries, donors, sponsors, patrons, businesses, volunteers and AGA staff who make this event possible. Their time, talent, ideas, and donations are integral to making Art on the Block a great success. Thank you to each and every one of you!

Remember, there are no friends at the bid sheets – only competitors. It’s time to bid or be outbid. We look forward to seeing you in action at Art on the Block, all in the name of philanthropy.

How You Make a Difference

Proceeds from Art on the Block support your AGA’s exhibitions, education and programming, providing Albertans with unique access points to hands-on art making and gallery exhibitions. Education and interpretive programs work together to create experiences that connect the community to a diversity of art forms in a variety of meaningful ways.

Thank you for your support and for helping us to bring art and art education to the lives of so many!
