Message from the chairs

Twenty years ago, the Art Gallery of Alberta held its first Art on the Block. Since then, it has become a signature event for us and the community, thanks to people like you. Tonight you are one of 600 lucky people attending this sought-out and sold-out fundraiser. We thank you for your support and, in the spirit of this year’s theme, the universe thanks you.

Philanthropic Karma is a playful way for us to recognize how valuable your contributions are. Every ticket purchased and every successful bid helps to keep the AGA’s exhibitions, education programming and community outreach as dynamic as can be – giving Edmontonians, Albertans and visitors from around the world unforgettable art experiences.

Every year, an extraordinary group of supporters: artists, galleries, donors, sponsors, patrons, businesses, volunteers and AGA staff make this event possible. Their time, talent, ideas and generosity are integral to making Art on the Block the success it is. Thank you to everyone who has given to this year’s event – good karma is coming your way!

In support of everything the AGA does, please bid and bid often. This is your chance to fill your life with art and art inspired items and earn karmic points along the way. There are over 100 items, including more than 90 works of art donated by recognized Canadian artists, exclusive art-inspired experiences and items donated by local artisans and businesses.

Enjoy the party, each other, and the drinks and culinary creations  by Zinc Head Chef Dave Omar. It’s wonderful to see you in action – and leaving the party with more than art. Rainbows, butterflies, unicorns anyone?

How You Make a Difference

Proceeds from Art on the Block support your AGA’s exhibitions, education and programming, providing Albertans with unique access points to hands-on art making and gallery exhibitions. Education and interpretive programs work together to create experiences that connect the community to a diversity of art forms in a variety of meaningful ways.

Thank you for your support and for helping us to bring art and art education to the lives of so many!
